I’m a bit ashamed to admit this, but my husband and I have been together for 7 1/2 years – married for 2 (this past Monday, Happy Anniversary to us!) – and we have NEVER been on a vacation together. With or without the kids. We never even went on a honeymoon after we got married. We had our first child when we were in college, and made it a point to save our money to provide the best for him at the time and to finish school.
Well, once we finished school – he popped the question, and all of our money suddenly went to the wedding (oops, how did that happen??? *smile*). We saved up once more, and then whoops! Here comes our darling Olivia. She’s the bestest girl a mommy could ask for.
We are only JUST now able to take a breather and say….’Man, we need a vacation’. I mean, don’t get me wrong. We have taken trips to see our families down south (I was born and raised in Huntsville, AL while hubby has his roots in Griffin, GA), but we’ve never taken a trip solely to get away to a beautiful place and just REST. Well, now since we have taken the time out and invested in a financial planner – she’s the best, please check out my blog post about her), we are doing GREAT and finally have some funds to spend on a family vacation – which we are officially taking next Friday! We’re going to……Williamsburg!
I am TOO excited ya’ll! We’re taking the kiddies and heading out early Friday morning (my son is currently on spring break next week, so no worries about missing school) and will be spending the weekend there. We’re exciting about taking him and Olivia to Busch Gardens, I’m excited about finally checking out this infamous outlet everyone’s always talking about, and the best part – FOOD! I’ve had several friends recommend SOOOO many places to eat including Opus 9 Steakhouse, Food for Thought, and Pierce’s Pitt BBQ. Ya’ll know I am a TRUE foodie – so I can’t wait to hit up some awesome places to fill my belly. We’re also hearing lots of suggestions to visit Colonial Williamsburg and Go Ape . I have much research to do to start building the itinerary for our trip.
Have ya’ll ever visited Williamsburg? Any suggestions on what to do, places to visit, eateries, etc. I’m SOOOO excited to share how everything goes. I will be a picture-taking fool, so be ready to be overloaded! Stay tuned!
