A little under a year ago, I came up with a great idea for my next styled shoot – Winter Wonderland. I was SO excited because we were actually in Virginia where snow was a possibility and I could style a setup with actual snow! Well…..I quickly realized that Virginia weather is hit or miss during the Winter months and the possibility of snow is a lot lower than some may think! During the shoot – the weather actually looked more like fall than anything else and the weather was about…..70 degrees! Haha!

However, that didn’t stop Terri Baskin Photography and I – and it turned into an opportunity to show possible clients what they could do if they wanted a winter-themed wedding, but didn’t necessarily have the backdrop to make that come to life. Anything is possible with the right decor! Well, I thought it turned out awesome – and so did Two Bright Lights!

Check out their post featuring the styled shoot here – and be sure to check out all of the awesome vendors that participated! Never let your surroundings/weather stop you from living your dream wedding out – anything is possible! Enjoy!

Catherine & Kevin are in love. Seriously. It almost made me uncomfortable to see them together because Kevin does not try to hide that he absolutely *adores* her. Love is beautiful, isn’t it. It’s very hard to hide and keep to yourself.

Catherine & Kevin decided to exchange vows during a very intimate ceremony on a lovely October evening at the Gari Melchers Home & Studio at Belmont in Fredericksburg, VA. If you have not taken a chance to visit this historic, art-filled venue – please do! Not only does it hold an immense amount of beautiful history, but the coordinators on-site – Betsy and Danette – are an absolute dream to be around!

Catherine loves horses, and she definitely wanted to include that in her styling – as well as taking advantage of the season and incorporating rustic, country-chic touches into their special day. It turned out absolutely beautiful!

I won’t sit here and babble, I’ll just let you have a little peak into some of my favorite captures of the day – all captured by the very talented Sara of Wolfcrest Photography. Enjoy!

The logo is pretty rad, huh? I love it, too! Now to the fun part – Colors! Patterns! Textures! Oh my!

When thinking of the styling that I wanted for my branding, I knew I wanted the MAIN color to be a dark navy blue….something about the color rings feminine and chic to me. I loved giving it some pop with coral, and I KNEW there MUST be gold in there, as well. Not just any gold – but a ‘glittery’ gold. I love all things glittery. *Smile* I also am kinda obsessed with chevron, but honestly – in 2013 – it’s played. So Katie picked out such an awesome alternative – herringbone! *SWOON*

Here’s what Katie came up with for the first draft:

OH. MY. GOSH! Look at my bike!!!! Don’t you just want to hop on and ride off into planning land?!??! It’s perfection! I love it! I just love everything about this logo! As far as the color/texture palette – well, like I said above – I wanted more of a glittery gold, so I requested that. I also wanted one of the monograms to incorporate the navy color, since this was the main color in my branding – so Katie hopped to it and then I got this in the second draft:

BrandBoard02

YEAH! Do you not just loveeeeeee the ‘Dawning of a New Day’ font? It screams feminine and fun – exactly what I was looking for. Love love love! My rebranding was almost complete……or was it? Stay tuned!!!

So, once Katie had created my official inspiration board using Pinterest, we then moved forward to designing and selecting the official logo. Seriously, this woman is too talented. I was SO stoked when I received 4 black and white typography layouts to choose from – which are basically black and white designs strictly for font purposes – it includes no additional design (swirly’s, artwork, etc.). This is just so you can select fonts for the words in your logo. Here’s what Katie came up with:

Which one do you like the most?

I was torn between #’s 1 and 2. I loved #1 because I simply adore light, simple fonts and of course, who doesn’t love the whimsical, edgy sub font? LOVE! I knew I needed THAT one in my life. #2 was definitely a bit edgier and eye-catching, in my opinion. In the end, #2 won because I knew it represented the edgier, fashion-forward brand that I was going for. WINNING!

The last part of the actual logo design was to add artwork to the typography layout. Fun, fun, fun! Here are the options that Katie produced:

I absolutely fell in love with #2 and #4. I really loved the arrow used in the sub font of #2, but I LOVED the bike and heart balloons from #2. Why not combine them? YEAH!

So, if you all followed my last post, you will see that I’ve finished rebranding my business. What was once Miraculous Events is now Hello Love Events! When I made the decision to change my name and rebrand, I knew I wanted to hire a professional. Luckily, I had JUST ran across a new branding business on Facebook and I absolutely LOVED her work. Katie Durski of KD Creative is a freaking. genius.

The first step was to create a Pinterest inspiration board for what I had in mind for my new branding. I thought this was SO much fun! Who doesn’t love pinning! I already had a color scheme in mind, so here‘s what I came up with!

Awesome, right? Bright, chic, stylish, and very fun is what I was going for. What do you think? After this step, Katie took my board and produced an official ‘brand board’. Check it out!

I absolutely love the herringbone! Stay tuned for more! The completed brand board is next!
