I am officially back from one of the most relaxing weekends that I’ve ever had. I can’t even remember the last time with or without family that I’ve just went away somewhere and had absolutely no plans. Anyone that knows me well knows that when I plan a trip, that there WILL usually be lots of wwalking, sight-seeing, eating, exploring, and as much stuff that I can fit into an itinerary as possible. Hahaha!
This was definitely not one of those times. This weekend I attended Pursuit Community‘s Fredericksburg Retreat in Delaplane, VA. I co-lead this small group with Brandilynn Aines, but luckily (for my mind’s sake), Brandi had been coordinating this retreat prior to me being approved as co-leader. She had lots of great activities planned including hosting a worship leader, as well as having a personal chef teach a cooking class for the attendees – but due to the low amount of registrations that we received, we weren’t able to afford any of those activities and therefore had to cut most of those sessions. In the end, we had exactly one other lady register – a Wall of Kristina Marie Photography! So the three of us headed up on Friday and when I say the weekend FLEW by – that’s an understatement.
We spent the weekend at One Nest in Delaplane, VA – a beautiful, quiet oasis literally in the mountains. The owners built this ‘smart’ home as their “interpretation of a modern yet classical Virginia barn with silo architecture”. Ah! The photos don’t do it justice!
We talked, laughed, snorted, slept-in, took rainforest showers (the shower literally had water coming from the top and the sides), and shared our hearts with one another. Ah friends – it was good. REAL good! I walked away with 2 wonderful friends and sisters. Brandi is my wonderful hippie boho co-leader and Kristina is my long-haired, fun-loving day-of assistant for a LOT of my weddings this year! Can’t wait to build these friendships!
Enjoy my iphone documentary of a few of the things that we got to experience the past couple of days (don’t be TOO jealous!). Here’s to friendship, good conversation and retreats with no itinerary. XO
Once Kristina and I had arrived, we went exploring and discovered that Brandi’s room (on the second floor) had a top view overlooking the entire 1st level. What?!?! Crazy beautiful! We were jealous.
Upon our arrival, we realized that Brandi had cooked us this wonderful meal of chicken parmesan, rolls and salad. It was YUMMY! Thanks, Brandi!
The girls said I just HAD to try Foster’s Grille. I was yummy! I still loveeeee Five Guys, though!
Crafting Time!!! Brandi found the cutest Marquee Letter Kits at Michaels!
Didn’t we do an awesome job? These were definitely a labor of love!
Time for calligraphy!!! Ah this was sooooooo much fun!
Taco (and bean burrito) Night!!
Brownies and Bonfires. Enough Said.
Next time – there WILL be smores. Definitely a must for bonfires.
